Juventus Football Club this evening honoured the memories of the 39 supporters who lost their lives at Heysel Stadium on 29 May 1985 with a special holy service at Turin’s Chiesa della Gran Madre di Dio.

Joining club president Andrea Agnelli, the first-team squad, backroom staff and directors were representatives of several institutions: Lega Calcio chairman Maurizio Beretta, Lega Serie A director general Marco Brunelli, CONI general secretary Roberto Fabbricini, UEFA competitions director Giorgio Marchetti and Turin city mayor Piero Fassino.

Also in attendance were Mariella Scirea, the widow of former Juventus captain Gaetano Scirea, the then manager Giovanni Trapattoni, and three players who featured on that fateful night: Stefano Tacconi, Beniamino Vignola and Ian Rush.

All present united with the relatives of the 39 to pay their respects during a touching service. Thirty years may have passed but their memories will live on forever.
