Juventus’ match against the A League All-Stars on Sunday 10 August sees the Bianconeri come up against former club captain and legend Alessandro Del Piero for the first time since he left the club back in 2012.

Tonight, Juventus.com experienced a taste of things to come when a Bianconeri delegation comprising Massimiliano Allegri, Leonardo Bonucci, Patrice Evra, Fernando Llorente, Claudio Marchisio and Andrea Pirlo attended a gala dinner at Doltone House to promote Sunday’s match-up.

Current Juventus players aside, fan favourite Del Piero also graced the event where he was seated on the head table.

550 guests applauded the Champions of Italy as they made their way on stage with Del Piero. Pirlo greeted the crowd: “We’re happy to be here. We received a fantastic welcome and the team would like to thank everyone. See you all at the stadium on Sunday.”

Unable to hide any emotion from the fact he would be playing against his beloved side, Del Piero began proceedings by saying: “Of course it’ll be strange but I’m happy to take part in this event. It’ll be hard to win the game but the team will give it a good go.”

He concluded, joking: “You never know, my ex-team-mates might be exhausted from all the traveling. If they want to know any good places to go the night before the game, I’m sure I could give them a few suggestions on where to go...”

As the players handed over the event’s plaque, photos were taken and the whole room applauded to draw the evening to a close.

The ovation would surely act as a precursor for the reception the Old Lady will receive once they take to the field at the ANZ Stadium on Sunday.
