Today Juventus.com recalls the appointment of Giovanni Agnelli, one of the most important figures in Bianconeri history, who was officially confirmed club president 67 years ago on this day.

Affectionately known as ‘L’Avvocato’, he would go on to occupy the role of president for seven years, having taken over the reins from Pietro Dusio in 1947.

Giovanni was the second member of the Agnelli family to step into the presidential hotseat after his father Edoardo had been in charge from 1923 to 1935.

He left his post on 18 September 1954 after overseeing the Bianconeri’s two Scudetto triumphs in 1950 and 1952 but continued to have the club in his heart right up until his death on 24 January 2003.

Juventus Football Club will forever be indebted to Giovanni Agnelli for his work.
