Primavera beaten in playoff quarter-finals

The Primavera’s hopes of reaching this year’s Final Round are over after they were narrowly defeated 2-1 by Palermo in Saturday afternoon’s quarter-final playoff in Vinovo.

Goals either side of half-time from Marco Toscano and Accursio Bentivegna did the damage, with Luca Clemenza’s strike 11 minutes from time ultimately proving a mere consolation for Fabio Grosso’s charges.

While the Primavera’s season is now at an end, the Rosanero will face Lazio in next week’s semi-finals.
