Fabio Grosso’s Primavera ended this season’s UEFA Youth League adventure with a 3-0 home defeat to Atletico Madrid earlier this evening.
With a 2-2 draw away at Malmo last time out confirming their exit from this year’s competition, the Bianconeri young guns were playing for pride at the Stadio Silvio Piola in Vercelli but found themselves on the receiving end of a three-goal defeat at the hands of their Spanish counterparts.
The visitors went ahead with only five minutes on the clock through Andres Mohedano before Amath Diedhiou doubled their advantage midway through the first half.
Striker Tete Morente sealed all three points a mere 120 seconds following the restart as the Spanish outfit established themselves as group winners with their fifth victory in six games. Juventus end the campaign third with one win and two draws to their name.
A disappointing day at the office for Grosso’s charges, who will look to bounce back at the first time of asking when they visit Parma in the league on Sunday morning.
