After a week’s pre-season training in Val d’Aosta, the Primavera this afternoon put their work to the test in a useful run out against Lega Pro professional side Lecce.

Despite going in front at Chatillon’s Stadio Brunod through Hector Otin Lafuente’s free-kick, it was in fact the Giallorossi who made their experience tell over the course of the 90 minutes, emerging victorious by a 5-1 scoreline.

Speaking after the game, coach Fabio Grosso, who took the opportunity to hand playing time to his entire squad, believes the encounter will act as a decent learning curve for his young guns.

He said: “I’m happy with how the lads fared, it wasn’t easy playing against a professional side like Lecce. They showed plenty of commitment and gave their all, looking to put into practice the moves we’ve worked on in training. We’re here to develop on a daily basis.”

The Primavera will tackle their second pre-season friendly on Wednesday 30 July, with Serie D outfit Chieri providing the opposition.
