The Primavera’s Coppa Italia aspirations suffered a blow after Lazio ran out 2-0 winners in this morning’s semi-final first leg encounter contested in the capital.

Fabio Grosso’s youngsters faced an uphill task following an early goal from the hosts with just four minutes played, Michal Borecki’s deflected strike looping past a stranded Emil Audero.

The opener sparked the Primavera into life but it was Lazio who bagged an all-important second through Simone Palombi eight minutes after the break.

In spite of ending the game with just nine men, the Biancocelesti managed to hold on and seal an important advantage ahead of next Saturday’s return leg in Turin.

Grosso will be looking for an instant response from his young guns, who will be hoping to turn the tables with a rousing comeback in a week’s time.
