Patrice Evra was rueful after Juve conceded a late equaliser to Lyon but insists it has done nothing to affect the Bianconeri's self-belief.

“There's always a reason when you let in a goal, but we're not going to let it knock our confidence,” the veteran full-back explained during his post-match media duties.

“We could look for excuses and blame it on the fatigue but we don't want to do that.

“The truth is that after controlling the game in the first half we came under pressure in the latter stages of the game. Maybe it's because we wanted to hold onto a result that would have seen us go through, but we backed off too much and didn't attack them so much.

“I'm as angry as anyone about our failure to hold onto the lead but that's football... This is the Champions League, after all.

“It's not the result we wanted but no one lifts the trophy today. We have to keep calm and move forward one step at a time, making sure we're ready come March.

“Now we need to rest up but then we have to go to Sevilla and win!”
