Hernanes believes his Juventus team-mates have stepped up a gear after their convincing 3-0 win over Empoli on Sunday afternoon capped off a fine week for the Bianconeri.
“We’re improving and we’ve showed a great level of maturity in what’s been a fantastic week,” said the Brazilian after the match. “We’ve got three wins from three away games and our balance, determination and focus has paid off. Now we can rest up a bit and then get back to work.”
Juve were made to wait until the second half for the breakthrough against Giovanni Martusciello’s Empoli side, and Hernanes explained that focus was key to ensuring the goal arrived.
“We knew there was a goal coming, but you can never be too sure of that because you risk losing concentration. There was plenty of space for us but Empoli were pressing hard without the ball. We had to be clinical to get the win.”
The Brazilian midfielder produced another good performance at the Stadio Castellani, looking right at home in his deep-lying position in front of the defence.
“There are some extraordinary players in front of me, but my job is to keep a cool head and do what the boss asks of me, with and without the ball.”
