“Whether it’s the best team or whether it’s Juventus that wins, I’m lucky that the two often coincide.”
It's an unforgettable phrase that encapsulates all of Giovanni Agnelli's irony, style and love for the Old Lady.
Agnelli passed away exactly 13 years ago today, but his spirit lives on in all those who hold the Bianconeri close to their hearts, as he did.
As well as being president at the club for six years between 1947 and 1953, L’Avvocato was an extremely committed supporter of the Old Lady and he would often be seen in the stands cheering on his beloved boyhood team.
Even if Agnelli is no longer able to visit the ground in person, his appreciation of and demands for a beautiful brand of winning football has left an important legacy, which remains in full flow to this day.
To honour his memory, we will go out tonight and try to give him what he loved most: a victory.
