Simply, a record 2018.

The footballing year is officially over for Juventus, who yesterday beat Sampdoria 2-1 in Serie A to confirm that they will go into 2019 nine points clear at the top of the table.

This just six months on from Juve lifting Scudetto number 36, as well as Coppa Italia 13 at the end of last season (having also seen the Women's team lift the Scudetto in their first ever campaign).

The Bianconeri won a total of 101 points in 2018, equalling the record in Serie A set by Torino in 1948.

Not only that, but after the first half of the season with 17 wins, two draws and no defeats, the 53 points accumulated by Juventus is a record at the midway point of the campaign.

PERTINENT PERCENTAGES

Let's start from the percentages of the Bianconeri's victories: In all competitions 80.8% of matches were won, with this stat only bettered in 1932, with 81.8%. 11.5% of games were defeats with this only bettered again in 1932 (6%) and in 2016 (9.8%).

The total Serie A wins were 32, only one less than the absolute record of 2016. 17 home wins and 15 away, only Napoli in 2017 with 18 has ever done better.

There was one defeat in Serie A in 12 months, with only 2006 going better, as Juve spent the calendar year unbeaten. However, Juve did end this year unbeaten away from home, with only eight teams managing to succeed at this previously.
