Juventus’ crucial 1-0 win over Roma on Saturday evening saw another huge performance at the back from Giorgio Chiellini, who was there to thwart every attempt from the visitors to find a way back into the game.
Speaking after the match, the Bianconeri captain gave credit to the team as a whole: “The strength of this team is not in individuals, whether it’s myself, Cristiano [Ronaldo] or Mario [Mandzukic], but in the collective and we saw that tonight.
“Now we can enjoy a few hours of rest and then our focus will be on Bergamo, where a tough match awaits.
“We could have done better this evening in the second half, keeping the ball more in the opposing half but instead we dropped a bit too deep and couldn’t break out."
In conclusion, Chiellini underlined the importance of closing games out.
“We need to improve, because we should have scored the second goal. When you let the game drag on like that until the 90th minute, you risk things ending the way they did against Manchester United.”
