Fourteen matches played. Fourteen matches won. Juventus Women remain perfect in Serie A thanks to a convincing 4-0 victory in Vinovo against Empoli Ladies.

Barbara Bonansea, Sanni Franssi (x2) and Aurora Galli got the goals that see Rita Guarino’s side stay top of the table in a game that they were always in control of.

BONANSEA BREAKTHROUGH

After a couple of half-chances – Bonansea’s cross-shot across goal in the third minute and Ingvild Isaksen’s volley, saved by visiting keeper Silvia Vicenzi – Bonansea gave the hosts the lead after 18 minutes.

The forward collected Benedetta Glionna’s precise pass forwards and kept her cool to shoot low into the corner for her 11th goal of the season.

The Bianconere might have doubled their advantage when awarded a penalty in the 39th minute, after Martina Rosucci was fouled in the box, but Vicenzi saved Lisa Boattin’ spot-kick.

FRANSSI FIRES HOME BRACE

However, the hosts would not have to wait long after half-time to get back among the goals: Franssi turned home Rosucci’s pinpoint cross in the 52nd minute and the Finnish striker turned provider in the 56th for Galli to fire an unstoppable shot into the bottom corner.

With the win all but secure, Empoli did eventually enjoy some possession in dangerous areas in the latter stages, without ever testing Laura Giuliani.

With one minute of regulation time left, Juventus Women made it 4-0 when Franssi turned in Tuija Hyyrynen’s left-wing cross to cap off yet another fine outing for the Bianconere, who now enter the international break in high spirits.

Juventus Women will be back in league action on Monday 12 March away to Verona.
