Allegri: “A professional job”

Having watched Juve outplay Manchester United in their own backyard, Massimiliano Allegri opted to go easy on the platitudes. He could have used an array of superlatives; instead he described his team's performance simply as “a professional job”, nonetheless recognising the merits of his players. “We played well especially in the first half, when we managed to slow the tempo down and break forward at pace,” Allegri told the media after the Champions League Group H encounter. “In the second half we created some decent openings but our final ball was off. That's something we need to work on but the lads still deserve credit tonight. “Our wide players showed great movement and made it hard for the opposition to keep tabs on them. “We've grown in confidence – that was already clear in Valencia. Tonight we read the game well and slowed it down when we needed to.”
