Alex Sandro might have grabbed the headlines with his match-winning strike, but the gutsy midfield performance put in by Stefano Sturaro was just as important to Juventus’ 1-0 win over Torino in the Derby della Mole on Sunday lunchtime. After the game, the Italian told Juventus TV of his satisfaction with the result.

"I’m pleased with my own performance and the team's," he said. "It was a derby so it wasn’t so much about tactics as it was about who wanted it more. We’ve got the win and that was the only thing that mattered." It wasn’t all plain sailing for Juventus at the home of their city rivals, however, with Gonzalo Higuain forced off with injury in the opening exchanges.

"We reorganised well – the boss put [Douglas] Costa up front and asked the wide players to get into the box more," explained Sturaro. "There were a few difficulties and Torino showed that they are in good form, but as I’ve said, the talk isn’t important today. Winning is the only thing that counts. "This is a massive three points. Given the way the game started, with Gonzalo having to go off, winning here gives us a morale boost and keeps us in a good position in the table."
