Petronella Ekroth arrived in Turin at the beginning of the season, and she left her mark on the campaign by scoring two headed goals in two crucial matches to help the Bianconere win the Scudetto and Coppa Italia trophy.
Speaking of her time with Juventus, she says: “It has been one of my biggest adventures in life and a good experience. It’s different compared to Sweden, but I am very happy to get the opportunity to be here and to develop as a player.”
She then touched on her best memories from her debut campaign at the club: “Of course, to end the season not only to win two trophies, but to score two goals and important goals is one of the best memories and to play at the Allianz Stadium – it was one of the coolest things I have ever experienced. I had so many goosebumps.”
Without a doubt, Ekroth will forever be remembered for her goals against Hellas Verona and Fiorentina – two moments she describes as ‘crazy’.
“It’s crazy when I think about it. Of course, I had a goal for a season and a dream to win the league and the cup, but to score those two goals, you want to participate with the team to win but I would never have imagined that it would be that good.”
Those two headed goals, almost identical, came from a helping assist from Cristiana Girelli, but she said it the move wasn’t previously practiced in training.
“No, nothing. We talked about the first goal and that we wanted to kick a long ball to Cri so she should would score, we didn’t really practice it. When I look at the other goal, I wasn’t ready when the corner was starting. I thought so many thoughts when the ball came in. It was really cool that the two goals looked the same.”
