On 4 July 1928, in the province of Novara, one of the people whose name would be linked to the Bianconeri colours like a few others, was born. Let's talk about Giampiero Boniperti, whose 91st birthday is today. We are talking about a man who has been married to Juventus since 1947, and who oversaw an epic era at the club.
Just the following year, he ended the campaign as the league’s top goalscorer at Juventus and in Serie A; it would be a prelude to his first of five championships, won in the following season.
Boniperti-Charles-Sivori: this attacking trio is enough to explain how legendary Juventus won, and how much, Boniperti was the heartbeat. Scoring 179 goals throughout his time at the club, the moment when he hung up his boots landed up being only the end of the first half during his time at the club.
In 1971, in fact, another extraordinary era began. "Winning is not important: it is the only thing that matters,” Boniperti's motto, which under his presidency, resulted in a series of extraordinary successes: 16 in all, in Italy and internationally. In short, with him, Juve won everything.
Today, Boniperti is the Honorary President of Juventus: because Juventus is something rooted in him, exactly as he is rooted in our history.
