Juventus Women will begin their Women's Champions League campaign against last season's finalists, FC Barcelona

The champions of Italiy will go head to head with the Spanish side who reached the final of the competition last season.

in the 2018/19 season, FC Barcelona finished second in their league with 78 points, to Atletico Madrid's 82. The Spanish contenders also had to settle for the silver medal in the Women's Champions League as they were defeated by a Lyon side won it for their fourth UWCL title in a row.

The Spaniards will be looking to get one position higher in both of those competitions. and the first challenge is of course, our Bianconere.

After a strong Women's World Cup outing in the summer our women will be up for any challenge thrown our way this season.

Juventus Women will play the home match at the Moccagatta stadium in Alessandria.

Stefano Braghin speaks on the draw

"As I have always claimed, the Champions League cannot yet be a seasonal goal because we know we still have to close the gap with Europe's most elite teams", comments Stefano Braghin, Head of Women of Juventus. "For us it is an opportunity to gain international experience. Playing against Barcelona will be useful to understand how much we still have to work to reach certain levels, obviously hoping to succeed in a short time."

The favourites will be the Spanish side, but the recent World Cup has shown how much Italian women's football can assert itself on the international arena: "We will try to do our best. We know that in football there are sometimes surprises. We will start as underdogs and we are aware of the how good our opponent is, but this does not mean that we cannot succeed."
