Today it has been announced that Cristiano Ronaldo, Matthijs de Ligt, and Wojciech Szczesny have all been nominated by France Football.
Three Bianconeri players nominated by France Football
Cristiano Ronaldo has been listed as a nominee for the 2019 Ballon d’Or award – a trophy in which he has won on five occasions. The Portuguese’s nomination comes off the back of having scored 28 goals and won the Scudetto along with the Italian Super Cup in his debut season with Juventus, not to mention having swung aloft the UEFA Nations League trophy with Portugal.
Matthjis de Ligt’s impressive 2018/19 season with Ajax Amsterdam, which saw him play an instrumental role in leading the team to the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League, and, subsequently, earn himself a move to Juventus in the summer, has been nominated for two awards: the Ballon d’Or 2019 and the Kopa Trophy.
Last but not least, Wojciech Szczesny has been nominated as one of the 10 goalkeepers for the very first Yachine Trophy. He, alongside Inter’s Samir Handanovic, are the only stoppers nominated from Italy.
