After their resounding victory in the UEFA Women's Champions League against St. Polten, the Juventus Women’s First Team shift their focus to Serie A Matchday 9, where a tricky match against Napoli Women awaits them.
The match is scheduled for tomorrow, Saturday 13 December, at 12:30 CET at the Pozzo-La Marmora stadium in Biella.
Massimiliano Canzi, in his usual pre-match interview, previews the match.
THE TEAM'S ENTHUSIASM AFTER WINNING IN AUSTRIA
“Beyond the latest victory against St. Polten, which was great and very important, what makes us proud is the entire journey undertaken by the team in the Women's Champions League. When the draw took place, we would never have imagined that we would now find ourselves in this position in the table. Tuesday's victory in Austria is certainly part of this journey, which is not yet over.”
NAPOLI WOMEN
"Napoli are one of the teams performing significantly better than last season. Our next opponent and Como Women can certainly be described as the revelations of this season. We will have to face Napoli with great respect because they have impressive statistics in terms of both points and goals scored. We will play this match to the best of our ability, knowing that a positive result could allow us to increase the gap between us and them in the standings. There is always talk of the long-distance duel between Juventus and Roma, but this season is telling us so much more. Roma are certainly performing better than everyone else, but there are many teams within a few points of each other, which shows how balanced Serie A is this year."
DIFFERENT PERFORMANCES BETWEEN ITALY AND EUROPE
"In Italy, we have often encountered teams that are more defensive than those we face in Europe, but it is also true that we have created a lot and had many shots on goal, yet managed to score very little. We must continue along these lines, trying to be more clinical in converting the clear chances we create into goals, while continuing to concede very little to our opponents, as we have done so far. In any case, there is no reason that can justify this difference in performance because we are talking about very different matches. Taking two matches played in Europe as an example, the one against OL Lyonnes and the one against St. Polten, in the first we created less but managed to capitalise on the opportunities we created, in the second we managed to score five goals because the number of chances produced was significantly higher."
