John Elkann believes there is plenty of room for optimism ahead of the new campaign after witnessing the Bianconeri's desire to continue their winning streak at first hand this evening in Villar Perosa.
Joined for the traditional pre-season friendly by his children for the very first time, Elkann spoke enthusiastically about the new-look Juventus that is readying itself for an “ambitious” campaign.
The EXOR chairman began: “It was good to have my children here and a nice moment for the family to get together and enjoy the party. The mood is good and the manager is a lifelong Juventus fan, he told me he had Platini’s poster on his bedroom wall.
“The team has been strengthened and now an ambitious season awaits us. The fans want to win and Juve do as well. Great success has come our way in the past and the determination that we’ve seen today from the team and manager is the same as ever.”
The Bianconeri’s return to home soil follows two weeks in which their international appeal was emphatically displayed during visits to Indonesia, Australia and Singapore.
“I was told about the welcome we received in Australia, with 500 waiting for us at the airport, and the Italian chants in Indonesia and Singapore. Juventus are a great team and followed throughout the world.”
Concluding with a thought on Antonio Conte’s recent appointment as Italy coach, Elkann added: “It’s positive news that he’s Italy’s national coach. I’ve already passed on my best wishes and I hope he enjoys the same success he tasted with Juventus.”
