Debutant Patrice Evra enjoyed a good start to life at Juventus with a 45-minute cameo in Juventus’ 8-1 win over the ISL Stars at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium tonight.

The defender, who replaced Kwadwo Asamoah at half time, was a bright spark on the left-wing in his first outing for the Bianconeri.

In his post-match interview, the 33-year-old began with a quick message: “I’d like to thank all my team-mates, the manager, the masseuses, everyone! They’ve all given me an incredibly warm welcome, I already feel part of this family."

The Frenchman believed that the match against the ISL Stars served as a good workout ahead of the new season: “Today may have only been a friendly, but it’s always a great feeling winning and scoring a hatful in the process.

“I think we took the game seriously and we’re working well. The most important thing to is to be ready for the first game of the season against Chievo.”

The incredible Indonesian support took the Frenchman by surprise and he had a quick word for Juventus’ fans in Jakarta: “I didn’t expect such a welcome from them! I had the exact same feeling when I played for Manchester United and it’s one of the reasons why I chose a team like Juve.”
