A testing encounter with Borussia Dortmund did not dishearten Alvaro Morata as he spoke to Juventus.com after this evening’s friendly.

Before boarding the coach back to the team hotel after this evening’s game in St. Gallen, Morata acknowledged the physical rigours that come with the territory of pre-season preparations.

With their eyes firmly fixed on the Super Cup in Shanghai on 8 August, the Bianconeri are however making good progress according to the Spanish frontman.

He began: “It was tough out there since we’ve only had five days of intensive training. We need to keep up the good work we’ve done in that time though and make sure we’re ready for the game in China.”

Deployed on the left of a three-man attack featuring Juventus’ new summer arrivals Mario Mandzukic and Paulo Dybala, Morata believes the versatility of the club’s frontmen will prove a key weapon in their armoury.

“Playing from the left worked well for me this evening, there was plenty of space for me to run into. We’ve got so many options in the final third and that will make us a dangerous side this season.”

Massimiliano Allegri’s decision to deploy all three of his main forwards this evening allowed new boys Dybala and Mandzukic to get valuable playing time alongside one of the stars of last season in Morata.

The Spaniard relished the opportunity to line up alongside his new team-mates at such an early stage of pre-season and despite only working together since the start of the week, is optimistic they will have a fruitful season in front of goal.

“We haven’t been working together for long but they’re two top players. The more we play and train together, the better we’ll become as a unit.”
