Juve-Atalanta: Talking points

Goals from Gonzalo Higuain and Blaise Matuidi's first at the Allianz Stadium were enough to see Juve win 2-0 over Atalanta and stretch the gap at the top of Serie A to four points.

Here are the talking points behind the Bianconeri's latest home victory before the international break.

  1. FOUR-POINT GAP

Following Juve's 2-0 win, Juve now find themselves with a four-point advantage at the top of the Serie A table, having taken pole position for the first time in the season last weekend. It's now twelve on the spin in the league for the Bianconeri showing their un-relenting style to take back the top spot.

  1. GONZALO CONTINUES ON THE GOAL TRAIL

Gonzalo Higuain has now scored eight goals in his last seven matches when he coolly finished Douglas Costa's inch-perfect pass. Not only that but Pipita has made three game-winning assists in his last three, having played in Dybala vs Tottenham and Udinese, and then Matuidi tonight. The Argentine's goal against Atalanta made his eighth in 10 against the Bergamo side.

  1. FIRST AT THE ALLIANZ

Blaise Matuidi's goal against Udinese was his first in front of the home fans at Allianz Stadium and his third of the season overall. The Frenchman had previously netted in away trips to Bologna and Hellas Verona before tonight's clinical finish.

The Juventus number 14 sealed the game for Massimiliano Allegri's men in the final 10 minutes when he found himself in space to collect Higuain's pass to fire home.

Matuidi said after the match that it was "magnificent" to open his Allianz Stadium account.

  1. CARRYING ON WINNING WAYS

Juventus have won all of their last 12 league games, which is their longest streak since February 2016. In addition, the Bianconeri haven't conceded a goal in the last seven home league games, their longest streak since May 2016.

Finally, the Old Lady have scored in each of their last 12 league games, the longest streak in Serie A.

  1. ANOTHER GAME, ANOTHER CLEANSHEET

It was clean sheet number nine in a row in the league for Juve, who are still yet to concede in 2018.

In denying Atalanta, it marked the first time the visitors had failed to score in their last five games, and the first time all season that Atalanta had failed to register even a single shot on target.
