Daniele Rugani has developed into one of the game’s most promising defenders in recent years.
Born in Lucca, Tuscany, the centre-back started his career in Empoli’s youth academy before joining Juventus’ Primavera on loan for the 2012-13 season.
Upon his return to Empoli the following season, Rugani helped the club gain promotion from Serie B in 2014 and then famously played every minute of each league match during his first full Serie A campaign (2014/15) during which he was not booked once in 38 fixtures.
His eye-catching displays sealed a permanent move in the summer of 2015 back to Juventus, for whom he puts in assured defensive displays whenever called upon, whilst providing an added goal-threat from set pieces.
On the international scene, Rugani has progressed throughout the age categories from Italy’s Under 16 side to the first team, making his Azzurri debut on 1 September 2016.
