An elegant left-back full of attacking flair, Leonardo Spinazzola has grown into one of the most dependable defenders in Serie A.
A natural left-footer, Spinazzola likes to drive forwards and create openings with his accurate deliveries into the box. However, the Italian never shirks his defensive responsibilities either, ensuring that anyone trying to attack the goal down his flank is in for a battle.
Born in Foligno, Umbria, Spinazzola first joined Juventus in 2010 and, with the Primavera squad, he won the 2012 Viareggio Cup and was named player of the tournament.
Subsequent loan spells saw the left-back gain valuable experience at Empoli, Lanciano, Siena, Vicenza, Perugia and Atalanta, before returning to Juventus in the summer of 2018.
It was at Atalanta where Spinazzola really started to shine, as the club gave him his Serie A debut on 31 August 2014 against Hellas Verona and a number of consistent performances would earn him his first call-ups to the Italian national team, for whom he made his debut in 2017.
Now back with the Bianconeri, Spinazzola is looking to make the same impact for the senior squad as he did previously for the club’s youth teams.
